Is this thing on?!?....

I thought about starting a blog quite sometime ago, especially with so many friends and family spread out all across the world! Who wouldn't want to read about out little life yet I thought , "well not while it's just me and Ben, I'll do it when we have a child...not while I'm pregnant...I'll wait until we do our family photos...etc" I finally decided, in the words Ben OFTEN is quoting me...Do It, Just Do It, Just Do It NOW!! Therefore, I am "Just Doing It Now!"
I thought this would be a fun way to add to my journaling so with that I will begin by telling our story...

Our Story begins long before we ever met. I was at church in young womans when a leader had us write a letter to our future husbands. I personally thought how silly is this I cant even drive yet! So with that attitude I began an insincere list that included a fun story of our meeting and most importantly a great last name. Elders came and went and my YW leaders would say, "Cydni, there is an Elder Thigpen (and so forth) will that do for a last name?" The answer was always No, until one day..."Cydni, there is an Elder Beer..." I agreed to be married to this Elder the moment I heard his last name, Cydni Beer! Perfect!!!
Then one day as I walked into my dear friend Joni's home, I saw the most stunningly beautiful man  I had ever seen. I didn't care if his last name was Smith- no offense. I loved him as soon as I saw him. Lucky for me, as I found out, it was indeed The Elder Beer! I was already always at Joni's house, but I don't remember ever going home the three months Elder Beer was in Pima. I told everyone of my plans to marry him. I'm sure most people thought I was joking - my journal and Joni's family knew the truth I was madly in love!!! Though,  Elder Beer knew a little concerning my plans because a lovely lady from church, Julie Goodmen, told him about a homely little girl (me) who was planning our wedding, not awkward at all--thanks Julie! To make a long story not as long -- I stalked the Elder. I was always there when he was at Joni's, because she was a great friend and would call me when the Elders came over. I even left Lord of the Rings half way through the movie to take home Joni's little brother,  who was too scared to watch the rest, only because Elder Beer was at his house. I know that's sounds horrible, but just remember love is blind and so it's not so horrible I left the movie I didnt even know what was going on, I was trying to figure out how to get back to Joni's house. Anyway, Elder Beer paid zero attention to me, but that was a minor obstical to overcome.
One day Elder Beer suggested Joni's younger sister write his brother AJ a letter to convince him to go to Eastern Arizona College. He thought he would really like it there and it would be good for him. So, I wrote him..I saw it as a great oppertunity to get to know my future brother-in-law! He wrote back and came out to EAC. I was working, going to school and doodling Elder Beers name everywhere so I didnt get to know AJ too well at the time. Christmas came and went and school was getting ready to start when the same lovely lady, Julie, called me and said guess who is in town...? At this time, I had backed off the stalking of my true love, so I didnt know he was there.Yet the reason for my existence (elder beer) had returned to the Gila Valley to drop his brother off back at school!  I was too embarassed to go find him since he knew I had planned our wedding to show up at his door was a bit much...right..? I dressed up every day hoping God would force this man into my life and make him fall in love with me and marry me so I could be the Cydni Beer I had been dreaming about!! That's not what happened at all, in fact, what happened is I went and showed up at his door... Our relationship began on what was meant to be a lie. I told him my class was cancelled and heard he was in town...it was meant to be a lie meaning I found out later my class had been cancelled so my plan to lie and ditch class for the sake of true love was destroyed. Benjamin also knows a my soul mate Elder Beer invited me in and then out for subway at the park. We talked for a few hours then I went home with Benjamin Beer's phone number and he went home, called his father and told him he was pretty sure he had found the girl he would marry! (not that he had to look too hard to find me, since I knocked on his door!)  We talked on the phone every single day for 3 month while I was going to school and he was in Utah. I came out to visit Ben ( I could call him Ben at this point we were tight like that) with my traveling supplies to last for one week. I remember calling my mother from Utah and explaining to her I was not coming back to Pima. On May 28, 2005 I married Elder Beer.
I knew I loved him but I didnt know how amazing, intelligent, funny, fit (I had a hunch about this one..) ambious, and just all around cool he is, of course those are all secondary to my last name.
I love Ben more than I loved him drawing hearts around his name in  my highschool photography class. Oh yes the butterflies are still there! We now have an amazing 17 month old child, Rock. I get to stay home with the little guy and drag him to all the places I love to go like the zoo, aquarium, pool and so forth. Ben sells BMWs (yes that is a plug..) and pretty much crushes everyone because he is down right sensational.  If ever I need a simple reminder of what I have I just slip the Elder Beer name tag on that beautiful man and remember that things always work out just fine.

  1. I love it!!! haha!!! You make me laugh. I am so glad you came into this blogging world, even though I don't do a public one that much anymore. By the way.. go to blurb.com and eventually you can transfer all of these entries into a book to keep. I have a total of 6 books around 440 pages each. Totally cheap and great quality! Anyway... your story is adorable! You guys make quite the couple and your boy is so stinkin' cute!

  2. Welcome to the blogging world!

I often wondered how you accomplished getting your perfect name. I still remember you telling us (carrie and me) you were going to marry him for his name because it'd be great --catchy-- when you became a motivational speaker. :)
